About Leon Hollins III
Born in Detroit, raised in Natchez, Mississippi; finishing high school, USAF, college and art school - 1962 thru 1980. In 1983, I freelanced as a commercial photographer & graphic designer. My graphic design inspiration came from advertising classes and following the achievements of advertiser, George Lois! I established Hollins Photography/Graphic Design a.k.a. HollinsGraphx. Under that 'shingle', I've designed for the corporate world, large & small. Taking photography assignments for newspapers, news wire services, magazines, and fashion catalogs; enjoying the whole process, I've developed a level of fine art photography; and began exhibiting in Southern and Central California.
1994, I returned home to take care of family matters. In Mississippi, there's time for me to draw, paint, and do more/different photography. As a local artist, I'm exhibiting in local, regional galleries & outdoor art festivals. I am one of the founding artists of a co-op ArtsNatchez Gallery, and belonging to Artist Associations in Mississippi, Tennessee, & Texas. My vision is to use my learned skills to create more large murals (that I enjoy) and to create public art pieces that will showcase the beauty of the region plus bring additional pride to the local Natchezians. In my spare time (sic) I try teaching the younger generation art history, basic drawing, digital photography, papier mache', etc..
So, with grandchildren, art students, and art . . . . all is right with the world!
